Binghamton, New York, 20 December 2009 -- Oryx Insurance Brokerage Inc. of Binghamton, NY is pleased to announce that effective immediately, claims will be administered out of their new Syracuse, NY office. After going through a rigorous application process with the New York State Insurance Department, Oryx Insurance was recently granted a Third Party Administrator Workers Compensation claims license. The office will handle claims for their Workers Compensation program and assist employers with construction specific return-to-work programs, fraud detection, investigative services and litigation management.
Rusty Hanafin, President of Oryx Insurance stated, “We have historically utilized a Third Party Administrator for claims management, but our goal has always been opening our own fully licensed claims department.” He went on to state, “With this addition, our customers will now be able to fully benefit from the synergetic relationship between underwriting, loss control and claims administration.”
The office, managed by Jeff Excell, CRIS®, CWCP, CHRS, WCLS, FCLS is fully staffed with construction specific adjusters. All claims adjusters have IRMI’s CRIS designations and are required to maintain a minimum of two professional designations. “Bringing the claims department under the Oryx umbrella was a natural evolution to our approach of better servicing our clients”, said Excell, Director of Claims & Client Services for Oryx Insurance. “We added to our existing team, yet have set the maximum case load at 20% less than your typical claims department. Capping the case load allows the adjusters to spend their time and expertise on the best and quickest resolution.” Excell will be responsible for directing and managing the overall activities of the workers’ compensation claims department and staff. In addition to his daily activities, he is also responsible for overall reserving strategies, claims audits and continuing education for the company’s adjusters.
